The legend started in 1910, when Cavalier Ugo Stella acquired the shares of Società Italiana Automobili Darraq, the Italian plant of a French car maker. The first plant was at number 95 Strada del Portello in the north-west outskirts of Milan and the company was called “Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili” (Lombard Automobile Factory, Public Company), hence the acronym A.L.F.A.GO TO THE ALFA ROMEO MUSEUM WEBSITE
“Alfa Romeo is a particular way of living, of experiencing an automobile. The real essence of Alfa defies description. It can be compared to those irrational movements of the spirit that sometimes occur in man, and for which there is no logical explanation. We are in the realm of sensations, passions, things that have more to do with the heart than with the head.”
- Orazio Satta Puliga, Head of Design in 1946
Alfa Romeo was able to amass a racing resume that became the envy of the motorsports world, that included:
• 11 Mille Miglias
• 10 Targa Florios
• 4 Le Mans
• 5 World Championships
• 17 European Championships
• Plus many more…
Alfa Romeo has a legendary history, made up of great designers, racers, victories and revolutionary innovations. Today, a place in which to relive them is born.DISCOVER HALL OF LEGENDS
